Lovely hotel, excellent position on the seafront. The staff are pleasant and very efficient. Can't fault anything. Bonus of having a balcony, we were lucky enough to get good weather during the 1st week of march. The hotel is very close to the shops and a short walk to buses. Although not necessary to leave the town as there is plenty to keep you busy in sidmouth.

We have been visiting this hotel for at least 25 years. It is our "happy place" The location is perfect for us - we always book a room with sea views , it's always a winner. The staff are very cheerful and helpful and professional. The menu offers a good choice and the food delicious- we also enjoy the afternoon tea and cakes. Tea is brought to us on a lovely tray and we can choose from a selection of cakes or cream scone. Parking has never been a problem.

Having stayed at this hotel regularly for 20 years, we again enjoyed a 3 night break. The same unique ambience that has attracted so many people over the years lives on, but as the hotel approaches a change of ownership this is a crucial time. We hope that the same high standards will continue and the atmosphere will be preserved. On this visit most was still in place, but we noticed small areas of cutting corners: formerly personalised toiletries had turned into universal tubes of shower gel etc, towels were smaller, and not all the evening meals were of a consistently high standard. The staff (some of whom are very longstanding employees) were as friendly and helpful as ever, and everything in the hotel was clean, tidy and well presented. We sincerely hope that it continues to be a unique part of Sidmouth.

Nice people, good food. Room comfortable though the floor was "interesting" with hills & valleys! Would certainly come again

The hotel does not pretend to be something it is not. What it provides is an ideal base for a stay in Sidmouth, and for many it's location on the seafront is ideal. The hotel has history, it is an older building. Our room was Nr.34 and its floor is somewhat undulating, nothing horrendous but the changes in level can make life interesting. The room however can fairly be described as comfortable. The food in the restaurant areas was good and delivered at a silver service level. The staff were friendly and eager to please or sort out problems for visitors. There was much of Sidmouth we did not have time to see, if the chance to return appears we will be very disappointed if another stay at the Royal York & Faulkner cannot be arranged.

Superb, friendly service and value for money. The room was clean with a wonderful view of the sea. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and breakfast was superb. There were also plenty of shops and cafes close by to explore. It was a wonderful week. Thank you.
